Location Ideas

My first location I’ve thought about is a white background. I think it’s a good idea as most Kpop Magazine cover backgrounds are white or a plain color which won’t interfere with the main cover star. This means that all the attention will all be on the cover star. However I think it will be quite difficult to find a cheap photography studio on the other hand my bedroom wall has a white background which may be helpful. We have used my white wall for a photo shoot before and the pictures turned out great. I had to be the cover star of her Music magazine. It turned out pretty well. The white background looked exactly like a studio background.
My idea location idea is a brick wall. This is due to the color and the pattern of it as I think it will make the cover star more noticeable and the pattern of the brick wall would give the magazine a “hard and bold” feel to it which is suitable to Kpop fans. There are many brick walls which is very accessible and easy to use.

Another place I think would make a good setting would be a white background which I will then edit to make it have an electro pop feel to it. I will add electric lights which will connote that the cover star is always in the lime light of the media and that they’re the brightest and most known Kpop star.

I think that my cover background will be a popping cherry red colour or white as I've seen that most Kpop magazines are red or white which has influenced me to do the same. On the other hand I want something more unique and interesting which I might do for the background of the double page spread. For my contents background I think that I will keep it a clean white which will make the page very simple but easy to read.

Poll results

This is the result I got from the 10 day poll I've put on my blog.
I sent the link to people aged 16-25.
The result told me that most of the people I sent this poll to prefer K-pop leading at 33%, Pop and R&B tied at 22%. The lowest genre was country recieving 2%. But Hip Hop got 8% and Classic only got 5%. This tells me that they are more interested in looking and buying KPop magazine.

K-Fashion Board

These are some ideas I have for my model which have been inspired from a few 2NE1 music videos such as Can't Nobody and I am the best . 2NE1 is portrayed fierce and seductive group which is why I used some studded clothing.
The other group of clothes are more vibrant and trendy which have been inspired from a girl group call f(x). Their song Electric Shock inspired me to make a K-Fashion moodboard. They are more cute and fun in terms of their fashion.

Audience Interview

Questions I asked and the reasons behind it

1) What attracts you to a music magazine?
I asked "What attracts you to a music magazine" to know what readers/buyers are after. Most of them said that they want to have a band/artist they're interested in as well as bold colours.
2) What genre of music do you listen to?
I wanted to know what my audience listen to apart from Kpop. The majority said they like Pop and Hip-Hop. Their music preference links in with K-pop as they have the same tempo/beat. In addition, the age range of people I interviewed are similar which means their music preference would be relatable to other genres.
3) What do you think of this magazine cover?
The reason I asked this is to know their point of view towards this certain Kpop music magazine. I wanted to know what their first impression. All three of them mentioned the cover stars and the bright loud colours.
4) What do you dislike and like about the cover?
By finding out what they like and dislike about the cover, I can eliminate some factors in my planning. From my last interview with Edselson, he mentioned the fact that this cover is very biased towadrs guys as the color scheme as well as the cover lines are only applicable to girls (unless your a guy who's a fan of 2NE1).
5) What effect or impact has this magazine have on you?
Through this question my interviewees can express their feelings  on how the cover image/lines have affected them in some way or form. All three of them mentioned the iconic K-fashion and how modern it all looks and both girls mentioned their aspiration towards their make-up as well as their hair.
6) Would you ever buy a magazine like this?
I wanted to ask this question to know if these people would buy a magazine similar to this and they all said "Yes." This is a good sign as they'll spend money on a magazine such as this one.
7) Do you know what Kpop is?
The reason I asked this question is to know if they're truely Kpop fans in some way. They all answered "yes" and even said what it means "Korean Pop."
8) Now that you've seen a Kpop magazine, what do you expect to see on other Kpop music magazine?
By asking this question, I gathered that they all expected more daring poses and more glamour on all the cover stars. This then indicates that that's what they prefer which I will try and include when I start taking pictures.

Overall, I think that by doing an audience research in a different way other than sending out questionairs, I can interact with them personally. It's more interesting to do this as they can express their point of view with an open mind and not have a limited answer. I will make sure to ask my target audience about my ideas in the future.

Questionnaire

This is the questionnaire that I have designed and handed out to people aged 16-25. I gave them to a wide range of age and genre as I wanted to know what they want or don't want. This will help me for my final ideas and contents. I will hopefully be able to analyse the results after which will give me a good idea about my audience.
